"They will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you.  Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!" (2 Cor. 9:13-15)

The gospel is about God’s generosity.

God gave Jesus. Jesus gave us life. God and Jesus gave us the Holy Spirt. The Holy Spirit gives us direction, comfort, understanding of the Scriptures, and an understanding of God.

The gospel is about God's generosity.

When you understand the gospel, you understand how overwhelming and incredible God’s generosity towards you is. God is not reluctant to be generous, he’s not tight-fisted with his generosity, but rather Scripture tells us that he’s extravagant in his generosity (Ephesians 1:8).

So obviously, Christians are the most generous people on the planet right? Well... sometimes. The truth is if you are not generous with your money, there is only one reason why: it’s because you truly don’t understand how generous God has been to you and how generous God has been to others. He was generous to the point of sacrifice...of his son. He didn’t just spare a couple dollars here and there. He didn’t just add a 20% tip on an exchange of goods and services, He gave His Son.

The gospel is about God's generosity.

When you get that, you will have no problem giving your money to the church, to the poor, or to missions. You won’t even blink at giving ten percent. It will be come obvious to you that giving 15% of your income is nothing at all, because the disposition of your heart will be one of generosity.

God gave. So give.
