At Living Stones Churches we support our local churches that have Gospel centered preaching and community, and we’re excited to have Pastor Nathan Dupree of Encounter Church preach for our congregation this Sunday. Pastor Nathan DuPree is a gifted teacher and preacher of God’s Word, who is passionate about teaching God's word through the power of God's spirit.
Nathan grew up in Vance, South Carolina attending church with his mother and sisters. In 1987, Nathan moved to Reno at the age of 15 and attended Wooster High School. Nathan played football at Wooster and went to Bakersfield junior college to play football where he attained a scholarship to San Jose State University. Nathan had a successful college career and was drafted by the Canadian football team, Calgary Stampeders. However, Nathan did not make the Calgary team and tried another attempt with Canadian Football in Baltimore, Maryland and again did not make the final roster.
Nathan went back to Reno and drifted into many different pursuits that lead nowhere. Nathan’s life spiraled out of control and mistakenly found himself in a church service on a Saturday evening with professional Oakland Raiders football players, Napoleon Kaufman and Jerone Davison. They presented the gospel of Jesus Christ to Nathan, and in that night Nathan believed in Jesus and has not been the same ever since.
Nathan began to serve in a small Pentecostal church here in Reno called Grace Tabernacle for the next nine years. He then responded to the call of pastor from the Lord and launched The Tower of Salvation Christian church here in Reno. That church, which was located on the University of Nevada campus, changed its mission and vision and became Encounter church that is located in South Reno. Nathan has been pastoring for the past 8 years and currently feels a renewed sense of ministry and mission in the city of Reno.
ENCOUNTER church impacts the local community by reaching out and evangelizing to every person who will hear the Gospel. Pastor Nathan delights himself in the charge given by God to provide a place of worship that will heal broken lives and be a place of refuge, safety and salvation for sinners. It is his central focus that Christ be glorified in the lives of all people. Nathan is married to Denise DuPree and they have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
